European Broadcasting Union
Dreams II SAT
EBU represents 71 active members in 52 countries of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East and 45 associate members in 28 other countries.
It
has two types of mission as a grouping of companies of radio and
television transmission: a role of representation and standardization
for its members and a provision of technical tools.
In this
last context, EBU has chains of emission and reception by satellite
making it possible to any member to have connection on request.
For
this purpose, Eurovision provides to each member the equipment of
transmission and reception towards the satellite which transmit MPEG2
images.
Within the framework of the parameterization and
remote control of the chains of emission and reception, EBU had a
software which made it possible to control only the equipments of a
single supplier.
Wanting to release itself from the exclusiveness in
this supplier and wishing to largely evolve the functionalities of this
software, Eurovision asked Macq Electronic the realization of a new
version called DREAMS 2.
DREAMS 2 is able to deal with great
number of equipments (coders, decoders, receivers, converters,
modulators, IRD, etc) and various marks.
In addition to this
software and at the request of EBU, Macq Electronique also provided the
servers as well as the forwarding to the members and the support.
The
material was selected and made in direct collaboration with the
customer by taking account of the heteroclite characteristics of the
sites to equip.
